Fishing Overlooking the River Earn, The Steading offers access to excellent sea trout and salmon fishing. Daily or weekly permits are available on a variety of beats, but prior booking is essential. The Earn is renowned as a sea trout river, with fish in the system throughout the season, though May, June and July are, on average, the most productive months. There is also excellent salmon fishing, particularly in September and October. One of the Earn's best kept secrets is the quality of the grayling fishing, which comes into its own in the autumn. There is excellent brown trout fishing in Perthshire. There are small hill-lochs nearby, and boats and permits can be arranged on Loch Earn. A short drive to the north, the charming River Braan is one of the best trout streams in the Highlands, and the Tay offers superb trout fishing on a grander scale. June is a great month for trout fishing. Daily permits for salmon fishing on some beats on the river Tay can also be organised. Casting lessons can be arranged. Shooting Shooting parties can be accommodated, for pheasant, duck, goose and pigeon shooting, any of these can be arranged in season with due warning. Roe deer stalking is readily available on the estate and on neighbouring estates. Enquire for further details Gleneagles can arrange shooting lessons. Falconry A day in the hills of Perthshire - pursuing wild game with trained birds from Braco Castle or Gleneagles.
