Perthshire Scotland

Perthshire is sometimes described as 'The Big County' and it certainly covers a large area (approx 5,300 square Kms). However it is the diversity of Perthshire's landscape that really counts in its favour. From Rannoch Moor and Ben Lui in the West to Strathmore in the East and from Aberfoyle in the south to the Pass of Drumochter in the north there is a variety in the scenery. You could find a beautiful cottage nestling in the rolling hills of Strathearn or a traditional Scottish croft in the mountains near Crianlarich.

Many visitors rent idyllic Scottish holiday cottages because they enjoy walking or 'Bagging Munros' (climbing mountains over 3,000 ft). Perthshire has many Mountains including Ben Lawers, Schiehallion, Ben Vorlich, Ben More, Beinn Dearg, Beinn a' Gloe and Ben Vrackie. The mountains are not confined to one area of Perthshire and all will be easily accessible from holiday accommodation in Perthshire.

Another big draw for staying in Perthshire is the fishing. Scotland in general has some great fly fishing and Perthshire is lucky enough to have it's share of great fishing rivers such as the River Earn, River Ericht, River Farg, River Isla, River Tay and the River Tummel

Golf is another reason to find a holiday cottage in Perthshire. There are a huge amount of golf courses in Scotland within driving distance of a rented property in Perthshire, making it a great base. There are golf courses for all standards up to Championship courses at Gleneagles. Other notable courses can be found at Auchterarder, Crieff and Blairgowrie (Rosemount). However you are never too far away from a golf course in Perthshire.
